Show Me The Proof

main image

How do we know we are saved? How do we know that we will go to Heaven when we die? What is the proof? I mean, it’s not like God mailed us a salvation certificate after we gave Him our lives. We haven’t been to heaven to be sure it exist. So again, how do we know we are saved from the penalty of sin and how do we know for sure that we will go to heaven when we die? Is it not because we trusted God and believed what He told us in His Word?

According to Ephesians 2, God is so rich in mercy and we freely received God’s gift of righteousness by grace through our FAITH in Jesus. We’re saved because we trusted God and His Word. In John 14, Jesus said that He was going to prepare a place for us so that we could one day be with Him forever and ever. We believe Heaven exist and that we will be there one day because again, we trust God and His Word! Everything we believe about salvation and heaven is received by faith and based on God’s Word.

Faith simply means that we choose to believe a spiritual truth based on God’s Word, without having to see physical proof.

As believers in Jesus, we seem to understand this concept of salvation by Faith. It is this same concept of believing by Faith that was always meant to be applied to every aspect of a child of God’s life: our health, finances, the expectation of good things to come. We can look to the Truth of God’s Word and see that God has already provided for us “everything we need for life.” (2 Peter 1:3)

When we declare over our body, “By His stripes I have been healed,” we are placing our faith once again in the truth of God’s Word (1 Peter 2:24). It’s not wishful thinking or just hoping, it’s biblical TRUTH. But, here’s what gets most of us Christians, we want to see it, feel it, experience it, before we will believe it or accept it as Truth! Example: I don’t feel healed. My head still hurts. My back still hurts. So we surmise that we must not be healed. We forfeit the Word of God, refusing to walk by faith and instead we walk by sight; dependent on our five senses. (Ouch, that one hurt me a little too.)

This same principle of faith can also be applied to our finances. Do you realize that there are Bible verses that say that God delights in prospering you? There’s even verses that say He wants to bless you in the city, bless you in the field, bless you when you come in, and bless you when you go out. (Sounds to me like God has covered all the bases!) God is a good Father who has good things for His kids and He actually WANTS to bless you!

What about the future? Can we expect good things when it seems like the world is going into complete chaos? Absolutely we can! God’s Word says that He has good plans for your future and for your families future. He says that He will be the one to strengthen you and He will be the One to personally guide you. Others may feel dry and weary, but not you! You will be like a well-watered Garden. His Word says you will be like a spring whose waters NEVER fail.

My dear friend, the promises in God’s Word are for you! The children of God are meant to be the most blessed, healthiest, happiest, and hope-filled people on all the planet! Ready to sign up for this kind of life? Well, here’s the key to walking in ALL that God has for you: Faith. You have to believe it to receive it. Like someone once told me, “You can believe and receive or you can doubt and do without.”(kinda funny but it’s actually true!)

We somehow forget that we are called to fight the good fight of FAITH (1 Timothy 6:12). We have to stand strong on God’s Word, accepting it as Truth, and then we have to also stand firm AGAINST every attack the enemy brings. The enemies purpose is always clear: he is out to destroy our health, steal our finances, and kill our hope. (John 10:10)

Over the past few years, This is the personal journey I have found myself on. I’ve asked myself this question, “If God can’t lie, and He can’t, then how do I do this? How do I get from what I’m physically experiencing and physical seeing to where I stand on God’s Word, live by faith in His promises, and say, ‘This is the only Truth I will believe?’”

Once again, the answer to my question was found in His Word: “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17) Ahhh, of course! You and I strengthen and grow our faith by knowing the TRUTH of God’s Word. When we know the Truth, it has the power to set us free (John 8:32).

Whew, that’s a lot to digest! I’m not even sure how to end this blog, other than inviting you to join with me in fighting this “good fight:” The fight of Faith. We must refuse to settle for anything less than what God has for us, His dearly loved children.  I pray you echo my words:

I choose to trust Him.
I choose to believe His Word is True.
I commit today that I will live by faith and not by sight.
