The DAY That Changed the World!

main image

Scripture is filled with days that changed the world. There was that day that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. There was that day that He rose from the grave to show us the resurrection from the dead really was possible. There was even a day back in the Old Testament where He caused the sun to stand still for a day just so Israel could win a battle in the war. And then there’s the day spoken of in Acts 2 where He poured out His Spirit on the earth like never before. This day, like the others mentioned previously, changed every single day after it in a way that we can’t quite imagine or explain.

The Bible says that the Day of Pentecost had fully come and that the 120 were all in one accord. They were in the upper room specifically waiting on something that they had been promised would come. The Bible says that as they were waiting in that room that something like a rushing wind began to blow over them. It says that the whole house where they were sitting was filled with an overwhelming Presence as the earth had never seen. It says that tongues of fire came to rest on each one of the 120 who were gathered in that place and that they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

We can look through all of the scriptures and never find a moment where this had ever happened before. This day marked an event that would forever change the world. This day opened a door for every believer who would ever believe in Jesus after this moment to be changed forever. This day was the beginning of an outpouring of His Holy Spirit that is still to this day changing the world. This day reminds us of the opportunity to know His Presence in a way like we never dreamed possible. This day lets us know that being filled with His Spirit is possible. This day reminds us that, we too, can be filled with His Spirit.

Acts 2:1-4 (NKJV) When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
